EG Coordinator for SSNET? Tombstone | Sunday, March 26, 2000
Tomb here, the Extreme Games sysop who loves you all very much.
Cybe appointed me EG Coordinator for SSNET or some shit like that. Can I be ambassador? I like the sound of that..

Anyway, i'm here to bring you news on EG with more info than any other subspace news page on the world wide web. For now, I have some important news as far as the reasons why EG has gone down 4 times in the past week. Due to the fact the sage386 was banned from EG (his favorite zone since it just such a wonderful zone), he took the time (as he has so much of it) to crash the zone. Later that day, the zone returned, but the next morning, he proceeded to do the same. Other 2 reasons being that SSX has moved its servers physically to a new building. As for sage, for his actions, he has been IP banned from all of SSCX. His IP was forwarded to the SubSpace Council, and he will be banned from all SSC servers.

As far as FUN in EG. We're currently getting ready with league. The settings are ready to go, and a sub-arena has been place within the zone (can be found as "league"). So if you have a league squad, get em ready! EG League will have both leagues for dueling and flagging. More info can be found at the Extreme Games Website.
OMG I feel terrible now Black_Cobra | Sunday, March 26, 2000

DID you all think I would really leave?! Whoa! Last night yes I was upset about AOW and I didn't want it to end like that...everyone has their breaking point. The reason I said I was retiring was to see how good I was doing. To see if I really had people that wanted to stay. Last night I was just upset and I do rash and stupid things when I am upset. Now I don't blame you if you are mad at me. When I saw how many people wanted me to stay I couldn't leave. I mean you all cared about my leaving. So this is the last time I will ever do that again. The next time I say I retire it is for good. :p (P.S. Sorry Red Myst please forgive me.) AOW is being handed over to Cyberise.....and I will just help it out whenever I can.
Matters of SS CybeRise | Saturday, March 25, 2000

We here at ssnet have just set up core@subspace.net which gives you the subspace player a way to reach the admin of ssnet.
Yes, ssnet is still actively hosting sites related to ss, so send your request to the core email. Any other matters may also be directed there.

thank you
Black_Cobra's Retirement RedMyst | Saturday, March 25, 2000

Well as you all know after reading the previous news post, that former player of Subspace, and staff of SSNET, Black_Cobra has retired from Subspace. Black_Cobra has contributed to Subspace alot, he started the zone SSSJ Stealth Zone, he is on SSNET staff, and he ran a semi-popular event, Subspace: All Out War(AOW). Black_Cobra's retirement, from my knowledge, was centered on the events he held. When AOW first started it went quite well with an average of 15-20 ppl each event. But as you know, tonights event was a disaster. I was there for about 10 minutes and noticed that it was doign bad so far. People would give remarks saying that BC couldn't run an event well, but I have helped BC and YES HE CAN. Tonight's event was a disaster because of the people. Giving remarks and not shuting up. Another problem came up when alot of the staff left .. including me, which I regret. Black_Cobra made a decision, of his choice. But as I have not said until now, but, I think that it is a bad choice. We all need a break from Subspace, and our computers, personally I sit all weekend long and as much time as possible on my comptuer, which I regretely say has caused my school grades to drop drasticly. Also unless BC takes this advice then I will be maintainig and possibly recreating his SS Tech Page for SSNET. Come back Black_Cobra ***
The End Black_Cobra | Saturday, March 25, 2000

I never thought I would say this....but I am retiring. This decision comes after the disaster at AOW. Oh sure alot of people came but alot of people whined and complained and wouldn't listen at all. Then the people in the got mad when I flag game reset. I have just lost the desire to play. I feel I have done more harm than good to the SS community and am tired of trying. I guess I just feel like I am not doing any good anymore. Someone once said to me don't do too much for Subspace where you get yourself stressed out. Well I wish I would have listen to his or her advice because that is basically what happened. Now people are mad at me for one reason or another. Yet when I was playing SS I did have alot of good times and good friends. I will not forget my time at SS and will not forget you all. Thankyou: Red Myst, Einexile, Nintendo 64, No_Remorse, hedcase1, Spynet, 1st Strike, Dark Hour, Pikapoo, Heart Break Kid, Conspiracy Theory, Captain Harloch, Sleghtie, Gemini Dream, CybeRise, Crome Solja, Big Slam, Silent Fury, Baudchaser, Fiery, DZB> Gotenks, El Tigro, Jacen_Solo
I am sure I have missed people...and please don't be mad.
Spynet: You have my zone....you are main sysop now, Dark Hour take good care of SS Planet. Red Myst I believe you will be great at running my Tech Support Website. AAG I will make sure you get a spot at SSNET. AOW is over and will not be held anymore. It has been a priviledge playing Subspace with you all.

WB W-T-F! Black_Cobra | Saturday, March 25, 2000

If you haven't seen earlier everyone around the Subspace community was all behind W-T-F Dungeon in hopes that he would make a fast a good recovery. They knew the dangers of this surgery and knew what could happen if things went wrong. But now that he is back I haven't seen much of a welcome back from the people around the SS community. Maybe I am wrong and maybe I am blind. :p But I just thought it would be nice to shout out to the world WELCOME BACK W-T-F!!!!

SSCX is back up Black_Cobra | Friday, March 24, 2000

Just dropping by to say that SSCX is back up!!! :P
Just a Note. . . Yazour | Friday, March 24, 2000

Hi everyone, I'd like to welcome myself to the SS.net staff. In general, I'll be covering the happenings of HockeyZone and the RSHL (Realistic Subspace Hockey League). You probabaly know me from HZ as being the first player to ever score a goal in his own net.

If you're interested in playing, you can find the official HZ site here. That includes all the rules, and league information so you'll be ready to start playing. And unlike other zones, if you play for a couple weeks there is a very good chance you'll get invited into one of the nine league teams! This zone is unique in the sense that newbies are extremely welcome.
SSCX is down Black_Cobra | Friday, March 24, 2000

I just get on Subspace and what do I see? SSCX is down oh my! SSCX went to so it could upgrade to Subgame 5 and get new IP addresses. It should be back up anytime today so start getting freaked! All your favorite SSCX zones will be back up soon.

TW Crome | Thursday, March 23, 2000

Trench Wars has a lot of good things going for them at this moment.

Some of you might know Live Wire either from Trench Wars Zone or Hockey Zone, in which he plays in LAME and in DarkSlayers. He was also the former coordinator of the Trench Wars Dueling Leaague (TWDL) and the Trench Wars Base League (TWBL). He has given up his position due to his inactivity. Dantax as most of you might know is the new coordinator. Dantax will be restarting the TWDL and TWBL season, and dubbing the champion of the past season. I know that Dantax will do better then his predecessors, for he has the smod experience and is more active than some smods.

In other news, the trench wars webpage is doing wonderfully. Is updated pretty often with some helpful news. I hope you check the site
out. Visit often you might even see something with crome's name on it soon.

Some bad news as well.

The Trench Wars League is not doing as well as I expected. Many server problems have delayed the smooth running of the TWL. So far it seems like -FINAL- is in the lead, but dont count out the others
(-SiEGE-. Elusive, Paladen, -Legacy-. and many more).

Back by popular demand,
Crome
P.S. I would also like to mention that the Trench Wars Jav League is also looking for squads to join so e mail Dantax with squadname, squad leader, leaders active e mail, and icq (if available). This also applies for the TWDL and TWBl.

Subspace.ds98.com the controversy Black_Cobra | Thursday, March 23, 2000

For as long as I can remember subspace.ds98.com has been around with the news. I nearly chooked on my pop when I saw subspace.ds98.com closed down and mergered to subspacehq.com, I mean I was just so used to the idea that subspace.ds98.com was there and always would. Some people think this may not be a good thing but I think it will come out for the best. We have alot of news websites and subspaceq hadn't been updated lately and subspace.nmebase.com was hardly ever posted until I would come over there and bother them for AOW news. But yet some people still think that the merger shouldn't have happened. I am holding a vote on this matter. If you want to vote on this merger as being good or bad you can email me. If you really miss subspace.ds98.com you can relive the old memories with the old subspace.ds98.com design before the white background/ two column design. It is at http://subspace.ds98.com/old.shtml

Euro League hedcase1 | Wednesday, March 22, 2000

I was just talking to Trash Killer when he asked me to post this here on SSNET to hopefully clarify some things for everyone:

"Reminder: Only ~100 names signed up for prized games.
If you haven't signed up yet, click -> www.siemens.fi/subspace.
It doesn' matter whether you play in Euroleague or not, you can win regardless so go and sign up! The number of names is only way to show our sponsors it is worth to continue tosponor us more in the future. At the end of season we will pick, randomly, one name from that list and that person will win a special prize.
Ps. All those who signed up before 10th of March need to do it again. I'm sorry but the DataBase was updated and the system wasn't fully operational. - Trash-killer"

Verio Server Down hedcase1 | Monday, March 20, 2000

About 7:30pm est tonight, AM League and Hockey Zones were forced to shutdown due to some 'irregularites' at the time. Ghost Ship was going to bring them back online later this evening, however, was not given a chance to as both Chaos Zone and Pro League were both also knocked off the billing server and could not reconnect to the billing server. Just a few minutes ago (1:15 am est), the whole server was knocked out or shut down.

It is suspected that someone has attacked the Verio and completely knocked off all zones from the billing port and then attacked the server itself. Currently, it is not known in what shape the server it is nor is it known how long the server will be offline. Ghost Ship is trying as hard as he can to get it back up and running, but so far no luck.

Currently, the new AM League Season slated to begin this weekend will be postponed unless the server somehow gets back up and is thoroughly cleaned and fixed in time..

Stay tuned here for the latest updates and I will let you know the moment things get fixed...
AOW Big Success Black_Cobra | Saturday, March 18, 2000

AOW event tonight was the best of them all.....a maximum of 20 people played and average of 17 people came. Turret wars was the main event then followed by 3-5 turret wars then 1on1 dueling. Huggy cleaned up the whole event winning the main event and the dueling......the 3-5 was won by huggys turret.

Euro League SilentFury | Tuesday, March 14, 2000

Hi all, It's been a while since I've posted, school and real life can do that to ya. Anyways, I'd just like to point out the most important thing that is happening in Euro league this season. That's right folks, Euro is being sponsored (by Siemens and Newbridge Networks), and individual players or squad will receive prizes if they do well (including sweatshirt(s) and watches!) I think it's fair to point out that Euro is the first league to offer this, which to me, is an added incentive to play SubSpace. We finally get some payback in real life for all our hours that we've put into playing this game. I think Fiery really deserves a big round of applause for pulling off this sponsorship deal! Anyways, for all you people who are in the league like myself, (this is VERY important!). You have to sign up to be eligible to receive prizes, and you can do this at http://www.siemens.fi/subspace/
Thanks!

W-T-F Dungeon RedMyst | Monday, March 13, 2000

Well I just read about the news about w-t-f dungeon. Hope everything goes well. Everyone should have a little sympathy for w-t-f dungeon and for what he's going through, and what is going to happen on tuesday march 13th. Again I hope everything goes well for you.
Subspace Players, In Real Life. StarClassic | Monday, March 13, 2000

Sometimes when your sitting an playing Subspace all seems well, everything is going good and you never really know much about the "real" person who you are playing with on the other end. Well if any of you know the Subspace alias W-T-F Dungeon, tomarrow (Tuesday March 13th) W-T-F will be heading into the hospital in Amsterdam, Holland for what he told me a life or death matter. There seems to be a tumor of some sort, which is rather rare, in his nasal cavity, close to his brain. This needs to be removed of course because if it was to spread to his brain area, his chances of living long would be greatly reduced. I had a ICQ chat with him before he went in about 3 weeks ago, he seems to be ok about it all, but nervous as anyone would be in this situation. If you read this W-T-F, from everyone at the SS Community, our prayers and best wishes are with you buddy, for your safety and fast recovery. I will hopefully be able to get an update on him after the surgery, and be able to pass along, the hopefully the good news, to everyone. This story will also be covered over at SS.DS98.com in case XDOOM has some update before me.
Subspace: A laughing matter Black_Cobra | Sunday, March 12, 2000

Some more news Black_Cobra | Saturday, March 11, 2000

Well I made myself useful and fixed the links on SSNET so you can get into the different pages with the help of Cyberise....the images don't work on those pages yet but I will try and fix them soon.
Also there is an event next week but I am letting Spynet run it....he is working on it is I post this news.
All out War News RedMyst | Saturday, March 11, 2000

Well overall, tonights event was, in Black_Cobra's words, "a disaster". There were only about 12 people for the event. Black_Cobra has decided to put his AOW events on a hold for a while. But he's not getting totally rid of it without talking to his staff about it first. Well here are the results for those who won... Winner of AOW - Eeth Koth- w/16-0 kill/loss. And Winner of PowerBall - Urbat. Good Job Guys!
SSCX Servers Pikapoo | Saturday, March 11, 2000

Swiped from Mackieman at SS.DS98.com

Within the next couple of weeks the sscx servers will be coming down for a couple of hours and will come back up with new ips. This is happening because they are physically moving to a new building.. I don't know exactly when this will be right now but it will most likely happen sometime in the morning hours on a weekday.. probably between 9am-11am.
Subspace Alive and kicking! Black_Cobra | Saturday, March 11, 2000

Well once again I did my major Subspace playing last night going into many new various zones popping up. There had been many skeptical people claiming that Subspace is a dying game but that is way far from the truth. If you ask me Subspace is growing. I get approximately 10 emails a week about newbies needed help getting started with Subspace. I myself have gotten three of my friends into playing Subspace. Ghetto69Boyz.....Spastick....and the other friend I haven't found out his nick yet. I am starting a local committee of friends to play Subspace. My goal is to keep the game going on for a very very long time. So if you are a Subspace freak like me....start getting your local friends into Subspace....it is really quite fun.

The Scoop From BD Vine On SSCU Servers StarClassic | Tuesday, March 7, 2000

If you are wondering what the story is on the SSCU servers like Trench, Euro, and Termination, BD Vine made this post over at subspace.inet.fi:

"Bad luck with hardware continues. The server hosting Trench Wars, Euro League and Termination had faulty hardware which caused it to crash repeatedly on Tuesday. This morning we moved the server to an identical new computer - and managed to find out that both of these computers had a new Intel EtherExpress 100B+ network adapter which we already knew to be unreliable at best. This Intel hardware kept crashing both of the servers.

As if this wasn't bad enough, I found out that I have no replacement hardware. Our Quake admin Mikron has sent me two supposedly reliable replacement adapters (thanks pal) which will arrive here tomorrow morning. But that's not the end of bad luck - feeling like having a baseball stuck down my throat, head full of slimy stuff spiced with chili powder and forehead hot enough to fry bacon on indicates that Yours Truly will hardly be available to install the new hardware tomorrow. Let's hope this is not the case - otherwise also the reset scheduled for tomorrow has to be delayed."

Well I hope BD feels better, and from what I understand there is a temp Trench Wars up as of now, and hopefully the rest will be returning ASAP.
AOW Tommorrow!!!! Black_Cobra | Thursday, March 2, 2000

Well it is time for another All Out War event and I am looking forward to another big turnout. Remember the event is in the zone Slaughterhouse!!! and will be tommorrow (Saturday) at 9:30pm EST.
